Agile definition and umbrella term

Agile is an umbrella term for approaches to software development that reflect the values and principles agreed upon by The Agile Alliance in 2001, as documented in the Manifesto for Agile Software Development. It emphasizes prioritizing people and collaboration, delivering working software, working closely with customers, and responding to change rather than rigidly following a plan. In practice, “agile” also covers a range of agile software development methods and practices (often referred to as Agile with a capital A) that emerged from the agile mindset. These methods typically use iterative, incremental cycles (such as short timeboxed iterations) to reduce risk, enable frequent feedback, and allow requirements and solutions to evolve as the product is built.
