Summary

Robotics is the interdisciplinary study and practice focused on the design, construction, operation, and use of robots. A robotics specialist (a roboticist) works across multiple engineering and computing areas to build machines that can perform tasks in real environments. The field commonly combines four core aspects of robot design: a power source (such as a battery or other energy supply), mechanical construction (the physical structure and actuators that enable movement and task performance), a control system (electrical circuits and algorithms that coordinate motion and interpret sensor data), and software (programs that decide what the robot should do, using remote control, artificial intelligence, or a hybrid approach).
