Joshua Foster, a 37-year-old British man, was fined €3,000 after pleading guilty to causing the death of his two-year-old son through a reckless, rash, or dangerous act in Cyprus. During the family’s holiday at the King Evelthon Beach Hotel and Resort, Foster placed his son on a fourth-floor windowsill to show him a waterpark view. He believed the window was closed and that protective glass was in place, but the child fell nearly 12 metres and died despite resuscitation efforts at Paphos General Hospital. The incident occurred on the family’s first day of holiday, shortly before dinner. Foster stated that the child fell before he could grab him, and his lawyer emphasized his clear remorse, lack of previous convictions, and the emotional impact of the tragedy. Foster was held in custody for eight days after the incident. Although alcohol was detected in his blood, it was not considered a significant part of the case, and there was no evidence that he was drunk.
