Definition of energy as transferable quantity

Energy is defined as a quantitative property that can be transferred to a body or physical system. It is recognized by the system’s capacity to do work and by the ways it can appear in forms such as heat and light. Energy is a conserved quantity: it can change form or be converted between different types, but it cannot be created or destroyed. In this view, energy transfer and transformation occur within physical processes, while the total amount of energy in an isolated (closed) system remains constant.
