Le Chatelier’s principle states that if a system at chemical equilibrium is disturbed by a change in one or more conditions (such as temperature, pressure, or concentration), the system will respond by shifting to a new equilibrium in a way that counteracts the imposed change as much as possible. The goal of the response is to reduce the effect of the disturbance rather than amplify it.
